Founded in 1893 'Liliput' Golf Course Was the brainchild of local residents who aspired to build a golf course on Holtye Common.

They called themselves the Liliput Golf Club, not as an allusion to Gulliver's Travels and the smaller stature of the course, but because Gulliver was the name of the genial and eccentric landlord of the White Horse Inn, which became a very convenient "19th hole".

Thus the birth of our nine-hole golf course was a delightfully amateur affair.

In 1933 it was decided that a dedicated Clubhouse was required not least of all to replace the inadequate changing room facilities adjacent to the Pro Shop. The tenants of The White Horse agreed to lease to the club the splendid, stone built barn that although extended and renovated remains the centre of the clubhouse today.

You will always receive a warm welcome from both staff and members alike at the 'Liliput Bar & Restaurant'
