Ladies Open 2018

On Thursday August 2nd Holtye Ladies hosted ten teams in their annual Ladies Open.  Bearing in mind that our caterer of seven months  left two days prior to this big day there was much to ponder in finalising the organisation for the day.

Holtye ladies are a resilient bunch who when the going gets tough, they get going.  Volunteers came from everywhere and they all pitched in with all manner of tasks to make the day run smoothly.  These tasks included providing the buffet, if all else failed, cleaning, sourcing cutlery and crockery.  All the latter occurred in a a 24 hour period and were in addition to the usual tasks we ask them to perform.

At the last minute we were told that our new caterers (Sussex Chef) would supply the buffet and the ladies would take on waitress and bar duties where required.  Once again everyone stepped up to the plate and all the jobs were covered.

Our thanks to the Pro Shop for providing an excellent display for the prize table.

The winning team came from The Nevill - Elly Parker, Sally Glynn, Lyn Watson and Gerry Melling pictured below.  They amassed a score of 96 points scoring two players per hole from their team of four players.

The runners-up came from Crowborough - Ruby Woolley, Mandy Monk. Ezzie Massey and Helen Brown and scored a respectable score of 89.

Feedback from the day was excellent with good comments, not only for the organisation of the day, the course but also for our new caterers - Sussex Chef.

SPECIAL THANKS go to all the Holtye Ladies who assisted in making it great day but particularly Valmai Duffin who has organised this day for a number of years now and is taking a well-earned rest.  Valmai is pictured second from the left with the team from The Nevill.
